Dexter fans, listen up

Wed Nov 11, 2009, 5:58 PM
In case you haven't seen the mini webisodes of our favorite serial killer, then by all means give this a look. Some pretty cool art and techniques used to make this a worthy watch. So far only the first story is complete, and if you ask me they're too short... but still pretty cool. They got 3 different artists to work on each story.

Art Theft

Sat Sep 5, 2009, 8:05 PM
Well it was bound to happen eventually, I suppose: I got hit by a thief. I am 1 of at least 4 from dA that were stolen from. Maybe that's what I get for not using a watermark all this time :(

I haven't heard back from the offender yet, so I don't know if he's going to cooperate or not. But judging solely by his lack of ethics for stealing in the first place it wouldn't surprise me if he ignored me, or worse... continued to claim my (our) work as his own.

The site in question is here --> [link]

Please go have a look around and see if you recognize anything. And if you do, please don't hesitate to tell the artist! And to avoid telling the ones that already know, they are:

:iconthesittingduck:
:iconhito76:

We artists are pretty good about watching each other's backs, so let's keep that going. A big thanks to Merlinstouch for giving me the heads up this time around :):horns:

Work Coming

Sun May 31, 2009, 4:39 PM
Due to a monitor going belly up, and quite a bit of work (thank God) and, honestly, a bout of laziness topped off with a severe lack of inspiration, I've not posted anything since freaking January. I'm totally ashamed, even though most of what kept me from painting was out of my control. But, for those who are interested, I've not fallen off the earth and I do have a piece or two coming in the not-so-distant future.

I know one person in particular is sort of waiting on me, and apologies go to him, but I'm getting on it and will have something up ASAP. So, please be patient with me. Ideas are flowing, it's just a matter of finding time/energy and the confidence to get back at it. So just bear with me, and I'll have something new to look at before too awful long.

Thanks for your patience... and that goes to everybody. Thanks for not dropping me from your watchlist.

I've got to get on the ball. Time's a wastin!

Inspiration, and then some

Tue Feb 3, 2009, 8:18 PM
I have collected a few web pages, online portfolios, etc., that I occasionally cruise through when I am in need of inspiration or some other kick in the butt to keep my dedication, drive and/or dreams from derailing. These pages are made by cats that have reached the absolute top of their games. Some of them are members here on dA, some not, but they all have work that can be humbling and awe inspiring at the same time... to say the least.

So, without further ado, I bring you the contents of my 'Artistic Inspirations' bookmarks folder:
Ryan Church - [link]
Larry Butcher... this cat is some kind of good - [link]
Raphael Lacoste - [link]
Philip Straub - [link]
This one was brought to my attention by :iconrahll:, it's really cool and is the latest addition to my folder. To be honest, I'm not sure who the creators are, other than Easy Web. If you don't have high speed internet, just click the link and do what ya gotta do while it loads. Trust me, it is worth the wait - [link]
Shadowness Portfolio Community - [link]

And this last one has nothing to do with the above links, but it's a handy site to bookmark. Tons of links that may be useful at one time or another - [link]

So to sum up, there are myriad ways to inspire yourself or others, but these pages are sure to help get your creative juices flowing again, making sparks under your hind end that hopefully will become a full on inferno of imagination and creation. Apologies for any redundancies, but I'm quite sure you're bound to find some new material somewhere amongst these treasure chests. Have fun exploring and prepare to be bewildered by just how talented a human can be.

Oh, and by the way, if you have any other pages that fall into a similar category or inspire you in any way, please feel free to share. One can never have too many means of sparking ideas :):horns:

Here's to your dreams and all the other dreams that will directly affect your life :salute:

Let It Begin

Fri Jul 11, 2008, 9:54 PM
This is more for me than anything, just to mark the day my journey officially restarted. Since the nightmare marathon of a project that was my truck wrap is now done, I can finally begin concentrating on improving my drawing/painting skills... or lack thereof.

Now it's time to read and study and practice every possible spare moment that's not spent keeping the lights on and food in the fridge. Time to get at it... let's see how bad I really want it.

  • Reading: In need of a good book
  • Watching: Deadliest Catch
